About Me

A Frustrating Ailment

by Julian
(Naucalpan, Mexico)

The article mentions tendonitis is more common in older people, but believe me, no one is free from getting it.

In my case, I was in my early 20s when I suffered this disease. I got it after playing soccer on a very hard surface, and not wearing proper footwear. The affected tendons were those on the lateral side of my knees.

When I say tendonitis I'm talking about the fact that pain only appears when you are doing the activity that caused it to appear in the first place, an activity that in most cases is something you actually enjoy doing. It could be playing a musical instrument, or any kind of sport.
The pain can be so intense, you just have to stop doing whatever you're doing. But then take a few days of rest, and everything seems to be back to normal, just to discover the pain comes back when you try to do the activity.
I was prescribed muscular relaxants, along with anti-inflammatory drugs, but the thing that helps the most is rest.
