Bass failure!!

Ok so i'm a double bass player in a string group right? so we're doing an amazing piece playing in the town hall (note i haven't actually learnt my part). I have the job of keeping everyone in time with my epic skills of one note crotchets. Unfortunatly I was focusing so much on one line I failed to realise there was a lot more notes on the next line down, notes i should be focusing on rather than my open D. So it gets to the next line and my brain goes blank. I'm stuck with a crowd full of people. My whole group goes out of time and sits there red-faced and shamed. All my fault.
