iPhone Apps For Every Musician

The ubiquitous iphone has taken the world by storm and there are literally hundreds of iphone apps for the budding musician, but there are also many, many duff apps so what I have done is choose what I think are the best iphone apps for musicians. Just click on the itunes button to get the app.

STOP PRESS Now the iPad has launched check out what is available for the new platform here!

Do you have a favourite iphone app? Share it here.

The first app is a tuner. Something that all musicians need at some point in their life.

Stay In Tune - Chromatic tuner

The next app is a metronome. Again the best out there in my opinion and an excellent tool for the serious musician.

For those musicians who like to compose on the go this is a must.

Another composing tool but of an entirely different nature is the hexatone pro.

The top music and ear trainer for the iphone has to be this app:

For all you jazzers this iPhone app just bops along:

For those other worldly sounds you can't go far wrong with Bebot.

This iPhone app, called Etude, seeks to provide a different method of instruction to those learning piano: it combines a database of electronic sheet music with an on-screen light-up keyboard and audio playback of the piece. For those uncomfortable with sight-reading, the on-screen keyboard highlights the keys played throughout the piece. Additional settings allow users to change the tempo, enable auto-scroll, or hide the keyboard (great for more advanced players who want to concentrate on the sheet music).

Etude ~ sheet music on steroids
