Musical Instrument Insurance
What Cover Do I Need?

Choosing musical instrument insurance can be a daunting prospect as their are so many different companies offering lots of different products.

There are many factors you need to take into account. These include:

1. What would it really cost to replace your valuable instrument in today's money? (also don't forget to check this at renewal time as most musical instruments increase in value as time goes on)

2. Do you need worldwide cover or just in your own country?

3. Does your musical instrument need to be insured in a locked car? (this can affect the premium a great deal)

4. Will the insurer cover the costs of hiring a replacement instrument while your instrument is being repaired?

5. What about loss of income if your instrument is stolen or damaged?

6. If you live in an earthquake zone are you covered for earthquake damage?

7. If you are a composer or work from home is your computer covered on your policy?

8. Are you covered for public liability when out at a gig? You never know when someone may injure themselves by tripping on one of your pieces of kit.

9. Do you have any special requirements or equipment that needs individual cover?

10. If your car or van breaks down on the way to a gig are you covered?

Hopefully you will never have to make a claim but it's always prudent to be covered for most if not all eventualities....
