If you check YouTube there're many musicians still active at 70-75 years. So if you master the violin by 40 years for example you will still have plenty years to play.
I'm 22 now and started singing again. I enjoy that and don't have an idea how to make it more than just a hobby. But I guess that more I practice, more opportunities and fellow musicians will come.
