Stop The Pain Before It Stops And Injures You

My job as a healthcare professional involves the keeping of patient’s records on a computer, so I used to type daily.
After a tiring day I would have burning pain and sometimes numbness in my wrists. I ignored the pain thinking that I was just overstressed. But the pain did not subside so I went for an oil massage;but this only aggravated my condition. So I went to visit a doctor.
After hearing my story, he said it was due to repetitive stress injury and I was diagnosed as having Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The muscles, tendons and the nerves were overstressed and with the posture of my hand while typing, the median nerve was being compressed.
At times, I could not sleep for days with the pain!
My doctor advised me to stop working on the computer immediately. Then I decided to undergo physiotherapy and muscle therapy.
Now after one year I am perfectly normal, and am able to work at my computer again; with few precautions.
I have been advised to maintain a straight good posture while at the work station, not to sit long hours at a stretch in front of the computer and to do stretching exercises at work.
